  • Why You Can Never Control Acne Breakouts

If you have had acne most of your life, well, chances are, you’ll experience acne breakouts all throughout your life. That is the bitter truth.

For some people, like me, acne breakouts are mostly due to genetics, stress, and diet. I belong to a family who has had breakouts regardless of weather condition or other well-known factors. Definitely, this is very frustrating, as you can never be assured that tomorrow is going to be a “clear” day for you (whoa! I remember a time when I was supposed to attend a big party and the night before, due to over-excitement, I guess, my zits started popping out!).

Break outs become more of a problem when you have oily skin because oily skin further exacerbates the acne condition. When you sweat, your skin tends to produce more oil and thus, clogs the pores with dirt and sebum. This automatically triggers a pimple to pop out. In addition, if you like pricking your zits and touching your face, then the more you are exposing yourself to more skin problems.

I recently read an article saying oil-free products don’t really help curb acne breakouts. For one, the main reason why we use such products is that they re oil-free. However, as I read through the article, I realized that there could be some truth to it. Why? Because we are often exposed to elements such as pollution and heat, which are the main causes of breakouts. And no matter what we do to avoid the sun, there are activities that we do that make us perspire. So there again is your exposure to sweat.

So what do you do now? Try to stay away from products that claim they are free of chemicals (you can check the labels for this) because almost all products that are produced have chemicals in it. Otherwise, these products won’t have longer expiration dates or would discolor after being exposed to air.

Some dermatologists even recommend the use of oil-free sunscreens in gel form because these types of sunscreens usually have alcohol. And in this set up, alcohol will effortlessly dry the oil on the skin.

Lastly, you should also strictly adhere to your skincare regimen to ensure that you keep your skin clean and acne-free. A good ingredient that you should ensure is present in your facial cleanser is salicylic acid, which aids in drying acne easily as well as drying the oils on the face.
